Wasting away in margarita-ville!

This is a triple challenge card. I combined this weeks technique, sketch and ways to use it challenges and this card was the outcome. Firstly, the technique challenge was to combine patterned papers, and the ways to use it challenge was to incorporate music into your card (I used a song title, jingle, whatever). I absolutely adore these little penguins and this was my first time inking them up. They are by Artistic Impressions, I think. The popped up circles read: "wasting away in margarita-ville" and the sentiment at the bottom of the card reads: "life is a big beach party" the inside: "...and I've got sand in my shorts". Ha ha ha, waaaay too cute.

Stamps: Summer penguins (Artistic Impressions). CS: summer sun, basic black, whisper white and patterned papers (floral and striped). Ink: basic black and gable green, fushia, apricot appeal, yo-yo yellow, more mustard. Access: May Arts ribbon, blender pens, circle punches, dimensionals, crystal effects.

Hope this card brings a little sunshine and laughter your way! Thanks for checking out my latest!!

Rocky Seaside...

For the colour challenge on Splitcoast today it was: river rock, basic black and whisper white. Such an elegent colour combo! I decided to start stocking up and making Mother's Day cards in my spare time in preparation for that big holiday. (I sell LOTS of cards for that holiday so having a bunch on hand will be handy!). I mounted my brand new "Seaside" set and decided to get it inky...I adore this set already.

I stamped the shells with black staz on onto watercolour paper. I masked them and then stamped the watercolour panel with the cheesecloth background in river rock ink (sort of hard to see in the photo). I stamped the smaller shells onto watercolour paper scraps and then coloured all the shells with river rock and I sneaked in a little soft sky for contrast. I cut them out and then mounted them with dimensionals. I added basic black mats to really make this card pop. I am very happy with the way this one turned out, very elegent. I love anything to do with the seashore or ocean so this set was a natural choice for me.

Stamps: Seaside, Holidays & wishes, cheesecloth background. CS: whisper white, basic black, river rock, and watercolour paper. Ink: black staz on, river rock and soft sky. Access: paintbrush, dimensionals, white taffeta ribbon.

Happy Birdie day...

I made this fun golf card for my good friends hubby for his Birthday. It was my first time using the long since retired "Fore!" set. That is one area thing I feel SU! needs to improve on is their sports sets, I don't like the current ones...lol.

Anyhoo, I stamped the golf bag in staz on onto water colour paper and watercoloured the image using buckaroo blue and river rock. The patterned paper is from the retired sentimental journey patterned paper pack. I computer generated the sentiment and stamped the little golf ball beside it for interest. I added some May Arts ribbon but the card still looked naked to me. So, I busted out my mat pack and paper piercer and went to town. It added just the right touch to finish the card off.

Stamps: Fore! (retired). CS: true thyme, buckaroo blue, river rock, watercolour paper and patterned paper (sentimental journey). Inks: black staz on, buckaroon blue, river rock and basic grey. Access: circle punches, May Arts ribbon, dimensionals, mat pack, paper piercer, paintbrush and computer.

It's the little things...

Yesterdays sketch challenge on Splitcoast was a great layout and I simply had to play along. Do you ever have those days/nights when the creative juices just don't flow and everything you try is a complete disaster?? Lol, well that was me last night. Finally after multiple tries my mojo picked itself out of the trash can and decided to co-operate, and I am thrilled with the outcome! I decided to pull out "lovely as a tree" and designed the card from there. I embossed the tree in copper emboss powder and stamped the sentiment from last year's sell-a-bration set "happy harmony" (I love the sentiments in that set!!). I used some scrap patterned paper I had (cosmo cricket) and used some bazzil cs for matting (it was the only shade that came close to the colours in the patterned paper; cajun I believe). I added the tres chic bg in so saffron onto barely banana cs for the card base. A simple card but very striking I think.

stamps: lovely as a tree, tres chic bg, happy harmony. CS: barely banana, very vanilla, cajun (bazzil), Cosmo cricket pp. Ink: So saffron, chocolate chip, versamark. Access: copper emboss powder, heat gun, kraft taffeta ribbon.

I have decided to start keeping a notebook of some of these sketches to use again in the future. My favorite of all the challenges Splitcoast offers is definately the sketch and I do enjoy the colour combo's too. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them all but we all have to have a favorite...right! Wink!

Thanks for stopping in.

pretty princess package...

Wow! A double post today...that is very rare...lol. When I saw today's technique challenge on Splitcoast I could not resist joining in. We are making envelope pouches. They are so cute and so easy to make, I could not resist quickly putting one together. Do you have an envelope? how about a tag punch? then you can make one!! Amanda (tropicalichick) gives instructions and a tutorial right here. Give it a whirl and see what you come up with. I made mine a Birthday pouch and filled it with hershey nuggets...how cute for the little princess in your life.

I stamped my envelope with the floral bg stamp in so saffron. My main image is coloured with markers and then I added a sakura gelly pen and it is soooooo glittery! Just like a princess should be. For the nuggets, I cut a piece of 1" X 3 1/4" whisper white scraps and then stamped the crown in basic black, coloured with markers added the glittery gel pen and voila! matching nuggets. I shredded some scrap cs for filler added some ribbon and primas and it's all done. These would be super sweet for any occassion and so easy!

stamps: pretty princess, floral bg. CS: whisper white, pretty in pink, barely banana. Inks: basic black, Markers: pretty in pink, barely banana and blush blossom. Access: sakura gel pen, primas, ribbon, regular size envelope, tag punch, hershey nuggets.

River rock blooms...

I made this for the featured stamper challenge on Splitcoast yesterday. The featured stamper was gbedwright and this is her card here that I cased. I changed a lot but kept the layout relatively the same except for the amount of layers and the cuttlebug layer.

I had this scrap of patterned paper laying around so used that as my starting point and colours. I used very vanilla as my card base (not very visible in the photo) and started layering from there. The leafy image and bloom were both watercoloured and both popped up on dimensionals. I used some twine to wrap around the bottom on the main image and instead of using a large brad like the original card, I used a clear button and layered a scrap of co-ordinating patterned paper on it.

stamps: embrace life, sentiment (stampendous). CS: very vanilla, always artichoke, river rock, ginger blossom patterned paper. Ink: always artichoke and river rock. Access: hemp twine, eyelets, cropodial, word window, dimensionals, clear button, paintbrush.

Thanks for checking in!

Embracing bride...

I figured I would show off a wedding card and it seemed fitting to show it right on the heels of Valentine's day. I love this combo of colours (basic grey, black and certainly celery). This card has a very Eastern elegence to it with the embrace life stamped onto the bg panel. I used a black signo pen to colour in the leaves so they would stand out more. I used various prima's and some curled paper to make her a bouquet. Once again, I used the cuttlebug for her dress and added the dazzling diamonds to really make her glitter. (there are a few dabs of stickles-in her bouquet and a dab in her hair as well). Lots of organdy ribbon and silver cord, and a bookplate with a sentiment finished this card off nicely. The sentiment is actually mounted on top of the bookplate and I sponged the edges with the celery ink.

Stamps: Bride (Rubber Romance), embrace life and small script. CS: basic grey, basic black, and certainly celery. Ink: basic black. Access: Hodgepodge hardware, brads, black and silver organdy ribbon (May Arts and offray), silver cord, oval punch, blk signo pen, cuttlebug and emboss folder, exacto knife, dazzling diamonds, 2way glue pen, prima flowers, and stickles.

Cupid's Heart...

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

My neighbour asked me if I would make him a Valentine's Day card for him to give to his wife and of course I said yes! I planned on making something totally different, started putting it together and realized that I did not have the stamp set that I had envisioned (namely, Always) which I just happened to place on last nights order...how ironic...lol. How did I get these hearts then you ask? I had them pre-stamped from when I borrowed the set from my friend, and it is a good thing I did because, I could not think of anything beyond my original vision and it took me awhile to come up with this. At our last demonstrators meet (a large group of us from the area meet and discuss our business, do make and takes and have a wonderful time together) one of the demonstrators did a make and take showcasing the "heart pocket", and placed the 2 hearts inside the pocket...genius!! The heart pocket templat is available on Splitcoast here. So, I borrowed that idea and built the card around the pocket from there.

I used 2 scoops patterned paper from Basic grey and it tied in perfectly for the feel of this card. Lot's of layers, dazzling diamonds on the hearts and the pocket popped up onto dimensionals. Some elegent black velvet ribbon with an oval tag and gold organdy ribbon finished this card off beautifully. The sentiment on the tag "my love" was done on the computer. The sentiment I added in the inside was perfect for my neighbour and his wife (I found it on Quote garden) it says: "What I need to live has been given to me by the earth. Why I need to live has been given to me by you".

Stamps: Always. CS: purely pomegranate, basic black, pretty in pink, blush blossom and 2 scoops by Basic Grey. Ink: purely pomegranate. Access: black velvet ribbon and gold organdy (May Arts), brads and eyelet (making memories), cropodial, large and small oval punches, dimensionals, heart pocket template, dazzling diamonds and 2 way glue pen.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day with their loved ones!

Embossed love and motifs...

Another style of Valentine's for the sale basket. The swirl for Baroque motifs is embossed in black, the love sentiment and "medallions" are embossed in gold. The medallions are cut out and raised on dimensionals, the design is finished off with some gold organdy ribbon and some gold cord. The red panel is matted onto some gold cs and mounted onto the black base.
Once again, a very simple design but, elegent none-the-less. I love Valentine's day. My daughter had her pre-school party today and it brought back memories from when I was in grade school. Remember the paper bag "mailboxes" we made to hold all of our Valentines?? They still do it...ha ha ha! The utter excitement of looking at each Valentine, feeling so special. Ahhhhh...the memories. Unfortunately, I just realized that I forgot to photograph what I made for the pre-school class, so will be unable to show you all. I made pencil boxes (Lauraly designed these and also shared the template on her blog, check it out here) that hold 4 Valentine's pencils, with ribbon tied around the top with a little tag hanging off...they were super cute. At least you can get an idea of the style by visiting Laualy's excellent blog.
Thanks for stopping in today!

Paisley love...

This is a simple design I made once again for Valentine's cards for sale. I stamped the Paisley onto vanilla cs, ripped the edge, I embossed the little flower from Baroque motifs in silver onto the black panel, added some silver organdy ribbon and a sentiment tag using the oval punches. The sentiment "my love" is from everyday flexible phrases set. I mounted all of this onto a basic black layer, basic grey layer and purely pomengranate....told ya it was simple! I hope you enjoyed it though!
Stamps: Paisley bg, baroque motifs, everyday flexible phrases. CS: purely pomegranate, basic grey, basic black and very vanilla. Ink: purely pomegranate, basic black, versamark. Access: silver emboss powder, heat gun, silver organdy ribbon, crop-o-dial, brad, small and large oval punches.

Love U a latte...

Just another Valentine's card that I made to go in my "sale basket" at my Dad's work. The pretty in pink panel was embossed with the cuttlebug, I used liquid applique on the main image, sponged the edges and ticket corner punched the corners. I added some pink brads in the corners to showcase that punch. I stamped the sentiment from "pun fun" underneath the main image panel and the heart charm I picked up at my local scrapbook store.
Stamps: like it a latte, pun fun. CS: chocolate chip cs, pretty in pink, whisper white, loves me designer paper. Inks: chocolate chip, pretty in pink. Access: liquid applique, chocolate grosgrain ribbon, heart charm, brads, dimensionals, cuttlebug, emboss folder, sponge and ticket corner punch.

Outta this world...

I made this Valentine's card following Beate's weekend sketch challenge (last weekends challenge to be exact) you can view it here.
It also falls in the "ways to use it" challenge on Splitcoast yesterday (to use polka dot's on your card).
I used the new "pun fun" set and adore this little rocket! I stamped it in various positions, coloured it using prisma colour pencils, gamsol and a stump. After coloring the rocket in I blended a line of yellow around the whole rocket to really make it pop. I used last years "loves me" designer paper and then added a couple punched out circles for embellishments. The sentiment I did on the computer.
Stamps: pun fun. CS: chocolate chip, tempting turquoise, regal rose, whisper white and loves me designer paper. Inks: basic black. Access: prismacolour pencils, gamsol, stumps, circle punch, turquoise grosgrain ribbon, small and large oval punches.
Thanks!

Happy hugs...

I made this for this weeks sketch challenge on Splitcoaststampers. If you would like to play along, here is the link here.

I adore the way this turned out. Pretty straight forward recipe on this one...I stamped the elephant onto basic grey paper and cut him out. I stamped the mouse onto blush blossom and cut him out and glued them hugging...awwwwww. For the sketch, I used Basic Grey 2 scoops patterned paper for the panels, added some ribbon, popped the main image up, stamped a sentiment and call her done!!

Stamps: Happy heart day. CS: wild wasabi, marigold morning, whisper white, basic grey, blush blossom and Basic Grey patterned paper (2 scoops). Inks: basic black, wild wasabi, markers: pretty in pink, certainly celery and apricot appeal. Access: white taffeta ribbon, dimensionals.
